ARComics Implements Fan Feedback to Release THE FRONTEERS Animated Premiere for Sony PSP Firmware 2.70 Using Flash

Cleveland, OH (PRLeap) May 17, 2006 — "The feedback we have received for our content using the new Flash 6.0 feature on the Sony Playstation Portable has been great and highly positive," Keith Rivers, a V.P. of ARComics (http://arcomics.com) stated, "As I have said in the past, we have been looking forward to widespread use of a device like this for nearly a decade."

Visitors are also encouraged to subscribe to the rss feed (http://feeds.feedburner.com/arcomics) to automatically receive updates whenever new content is published on the site.

ARComics, Inc. continues to retool their vision/version of what a digital comic book could be with input from the visitors to the site. The site currently has several short animated Macromedia Flash teasers available (as well as artwork and information on various properties) that will give you an idea of the type of content being developed. Be sure to check out the latest release: THE FRONTEERS, to see the evolution of the ARComics digital animated episode on the Sony PSP.

ARComics sees the PSP screen size, Internet/network connectivity, commercial success and target demographic as a perfect venue to bring an entertaining means of reading to a new generation by blending technology with art and storytelling.

The ARComics.com version of the digital comic book is certain to stand apart.

Also note, the ARComics.com is looking for assistance from the comic book, technical, art and videogame communities to showcase up and coming pencilers, inkers, colorists and flash animators (the potential to have your work seen is enormous). ARComics.com Puts New Sony PSP Firmware 2.70 to Work with Handheld Animated Web Comic Books

More than what you would get on paper, but less than what you'd classify as a "cartoon" or "short" -- ARComics.com, who has been waiting for a device like the PSP (and recent firmware upgrade v2.70) is ready for the launch of animated digital comics for your PSP (a version also viewable on any browser capable of viewing Flash files).

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) May 1, 2006 --Sony Computer Entertainment recently released new firmware features to the PlayStation Portable (PSP) -- firmware 2.70 (on April 25, 2006). The update adds support for Macromedia's Flash 6.0 among other updates.

"This is excellent news," Keith Rivers, a V.P. of ARComics, Inc. stated, "as it now seems we have finally arrived at a device that will showcase ARComics material on potentially a userbase of 15 million+ PSP owners. We have been looking forward to widespread use of a device like this for nearly a decade."

This event has prompted ARComics, Inc. to revisit and retool their vision/version of what a digital comic book could be. ARComics.com (http://arcomics.com) has a very unique take on what a portable digital comic book might be, and stops short of being classified as a cartoon.

The site currently has a short animated Macromedia Flash teaser (http://arcomics.com/rwb/rwbteaser.htm) available (as well as artwork and information on various properties) that will give you an idea of the type of content being developed. Visitors are also encouraged to submit feedback on the form provided below the teaser to determine how to improve its function.

"Our intention has always been to be available on a handheld device over the years, yet the market had no mass released device (other than the cell phone and its extremely challenging/limited screen size) to distribute content such as ours." Rivers said. "We see the PSP screen size, Internet/network connectivity, commercial success and target demographic as a perfect venue to bring an entertaining means of reading to a new generation by blending technology with art and storytelling."

SUPERHEROES IN CYBERSPACE

(Inside Business) February 2001 -- Move over, David Hasselhoff. Germans now love ARComics.

The phenomenon caught vice president and co-founder Keith Rivers off guard in mid-December. While checking the traffic at www.arcomics.com, Rivers discovered an influx of hits from the country.

It seems that a Germany-based media outlet associated with www.nbcgiga.com (the "nbc" stands for Net Beat Chat), did a spot on ARComics, which generated a lot of attention for the fledgling Elyria-based online comic-book publisher.

"No one from Germany ever talked to me or interviewed me," says the 29-year-old Rivers, the company's spokesman. "But I had sent out a whole bunch of press releases, so someone must have picked up on it. All of a sudden, we've got more than 300 Germans checking out the site over a weekend. That's pretty cool."

Travel E-Book Means Business

(WIRED NEWS) December 2000 -- Comic e-book super heroes: ARComics, an animated digital comic book publisher in Cleveland, has developed a digital format using the popular Macromedia Flash software to showcase comics.

Keith Rivers, a VP at ARComics, said that while comics may have declined in the print world, readers haven't disappeared. They're just part of a larger community now -- and that community is on the Net.

ARComics will offer content in downloadable chapters -- not to keep the reader waiting, Rivers said, but because he feels the smaller increments will keep download time short as well as keep readers coming back for more.

The company also plans to distribute a portable version of their digital content through Toonscape.com on Franklin Electronic's upcoming handheld device, the e-Bookman.

COMIC BOOK TEAM-UP! -- ARComics.com and ComicFind.com

Cleveland, OH (PRWEB) December 2000 -- ARComics, Inc. (http://www.arcomics.com - the Cleveland-based animated digital comic e-book publisher) and ComicFind http://www.comicfind.com named "Best Comic-Book Locator" by the publication "Yahoo! Internet Life") have joined forces bringing the best in digital comics and print comics closer together.

"This is the kind of synergy that both our companies look for as we continue to expand our notoriety in the real world and the virtual world," Keith Rivers, V.P. of Marketing and Promotions for ARComics, Inc. stated, "ComicFind.com is an excellent web application centered around the finding, buying and selling of print comics on a national level and we share some very obvious customer demographics." Rivers went on to say, "And now we plan to share this knowledge with the clientele of our respective websites that may not have known that the other existed."

According to Greg Ferguson, ComicFind Technologist, "Traditional print comics and the future of digital comics being created at ARComics.com can peacefully co-exist, and we are proving that every day through the cross-promotion between our two sites. We are very pleased with our results so far and look forward to us both serving the comic book and internet community."

Ferguson explained how items are submitted to the ComicFind.com database from retailers and collectors that are geographically located around the world. Advanced searching of the database and sorting of results (by title, edition, price range, other keywords) allow for a consumer to easily find the editions/titles they are looking for and upon "check-out" an inquiry is sent to the retailer(s) that offer the item(s) for sale. The actual sales transaction is then completed between the buyer/seller off-line or over email.

ARComics.com offers some of their comic book content in downloadable chapters (keeping customer download time short). ARComics.com also features, information about the characters and art galleries for each title.
